Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, we have a longstanding heritage stretching back to 1946. We are known for our consultative approach that enables us to deliver reliable doors designed for safety, fire, and security.
Despite the difficulties in the world markets since the first lockdown in March, we have had a record order intake in the export market and have made three key managerial appointments.
Firstly, after 50 years at the helm, Doug Hart handed over the reins as Managing Director to his son Nick Hart.
In his new role, Nick is responsible for driving our strategy forward and strengthening Harts presence in key markets. Nick commented “It has been a challenge to lead the company through this crisis, but I am extremely proud of how Hart’s workforce has performed. Demonstrating flexibility and professionalism, we’ve remained operational and have pulled together to get through these difficult circumstances.”
John Rafferty, an experienced automotive production manager, was also brought in to strengthen our manufacturing processes. John, appointed to the role of Production Manager, is tasked with supporting the company in developing its already well-established quality control and standardisation methods to enhance the company’s manufacturing processes.
John said “I was drawn to the company because it is family-run, has a well-established reputation for innovation and a commitment to market-leading quality.
We were also delighted to welcome Sebastian James, an experienced Sales Manager to the team. Based in Kent, Sebastian is working across the South East to increase the company’s profile in the region, engaging with current customers and contacts and developing relationships with new companies.
Commenting on his new role, Sebastian said: “I was attracted to Hart because of its family-run history, longevity and innovative product range. The company’s ethos of looking at ways to respond to and resolve a customer’s challenge resonates with me and how I work, so I knew we would be a good fit for each other.”
As a company we have been proactive in ensuring the business has had minimal impact from Covid-19 and continued to work hard to provide customers with the service and quality they have come to expect from Hart.
With that, we are currently seeking to appoint a further senior manager for a National Service Manager position. This role involves face-to-face contact with clients and over-seeing engineers working throughout the UK.
Nick Hart explained, “It is vital that we recruit the right person to help us develop our business and as such we are prepared to offer an OTE package of £70,000 pa to help us achieve this.”
According to the ONS, from June to August 2020, there were an estimated 1.52 million people unemployed in the UK. The estimated number of redundancies has increased by a record number, and the number of vacancies has fallen more sharply than the recession in 2008/9 since Covid-19 social distancing measures were put in place.
Despite these figures, this latest Hart vacancy for a National Service Manager remains unfilled.
Nick Hart commented “Perhaps people in senior roles are putting security above ambition due to the uncertainty of many businesses. However, we own our manufacturing building and offices outright and have no borrowings, meaning we are financially secure and in the best possible position to survive these unprecedented times.”
