Main Responsibilities as Finance Controller
Reporting to the MD, you will oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting and the development of systems and procedures. The primary objective is to improve all financial processes so they deliver meaningful information to support good management decisions.

With the ability to operate at both a hands-on and strategic level, you will manage a small team to ensure all accounting operations from ledger entries and reconciliations to full statutory reporting are completed accurately and in adherence to current standards and practices. Allowing you to deliver an accurate monthly management account pack to the board and guiding the business through a statutory audit.

Managing the companies VAT and taxation obligations and overseeing the directors’ tax affairs.

Working across the business to develop the financial literacy of the entire management team. The business is in the process of introducing a new KPI reporting system which you will play a pivotal role in the preparation, reporting and interpretation for all users. 

You will be responsible for the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts as well as managing cash-flow so you can advise the business through key investment decisions.

You will be instrumental in the implementation of a new accounting system, using your experience to guide the business through the transition allowing the business to scale its operation. Ideally, you will have previously had exposure to this or similar in your career.

Finance Controller Skills & Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold an accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and have already operated at a similar level as Finance Director or Financial Controller within a small to medium family-owned business environment. Alternatively, a practice background is acceptable providing you have been exposed to the sector via audit engagements.

Manufacturing sector experience is desirable, having a comprehensive understanding of stock, costing, margin and efficiencies.

Good communication skills at all levels are essential, as are a genuine passion for the job, the success of the business and for continuous improvement.
