In the 74 years of trading, Hart Door Systems has never experienced the challenges presented by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic and the implications it is having on many businesses, it is certainly a historical moment for us all.

However, we own our manufacturing building and offices outright and do not have any borrowings. This means we are financially secure and in the best possible position to survive these unprecedented times with the support of our staff, customers and suppliers.

Although the government directive is to ‘Stay at home’, they know that for many people working in construction like ourselves, our business requires our staff to travel to their place of work, and they have advised that they can continue to do so.

We are required to carry out essential frontline work to maintain safe and secure access to many vital UK businesses such as waste sites, food manufacturing facilities and pharmaceutical buildings; we need to operate to ensure that people are kept safe and secure. This is consistent with the Chief Medical Officer’s advice.

Hart’s strategy is to maintain operations for as long as is practical whilst observing Government guidelines and keeping any risks to employees to the absolute minimum levels.

How is affecting Hart?

We have been proactive to ensure the need for minimal staff in our offices – the vast majority are working from home.

The factory staff have been broken down into small groups on rotating shifts operating in large open spaces. Minimum distance rules and hygiene protocols can be easily maintained and managed.

Our field sales representatives have been placed on furlough and will hopefully return soon, however, if you wish to discuss a new door requirement in the meantime please call Carl on 0191 214 0404 and he will be able to provide you with a budget quote based on your dimensions and specification.

In anticipation, we have been forward buying raw materials and stock piling them in the factory so even if we have a supply problem moving forward we have significant stocks of materials on site that will allow production to keep flowing for as long as possible.

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) stated on 25th March that “if people cannot get to site whilst complying with the Government’s guidance, then they should not do so”. The Door and Hardware Federation (DHF) advised that this could include maintaining a minimum 2m distance during travel on public transport, and in vehicles and any need for overnight accommodation will also need careful consideration.

In response to this our two-man teams will be travelling in separate vehicles to site and maintaining a 2m distance at all times.

All planned installations have been contacted to ensure that sites are currently still open and installations will go ahead. This is being monitored on a daily basis by both sites and Hart Door Systems. Please contact Kyle Pendergood, Contracts Manager on 07802 219 237 if you have any queries regarding your installation, service or repair.

Following the Prime Ministers hospitalisation, we wish Mr Johnson and all others with the virus a full recovery, understanding that, very sadly for some, this will not be the case.

As the Queen professed in here rare but welcome speech ‘we still have more to endure’ and look forward to when ‘better days will return’.

Our focus is to continue to support you and keep you in a safe and secure working environment. If there is anything we can do for you, please contact us on 0191 214 0404
