Working with the award-winning Lagan Construction Group, Hart Door Systems has supplied a large, nine metres by nine metres Speedor ‘Storm’ together with a nine metre x four metre shutter for Viridor’s £200m Beddington energy from waste plant.
The plant is scheduled for completion in 2017. It has a 300,000 tonnes per year capacity, treating household residual waste from the South London Waste Partnership – comprising Croydon, Kingston, Merton, and Sutton borough councils.
Hart’s Julian Britnell says energy to waste plants do attract opposition due to potential noise and smells. Often in areas which have challenging environments, fitting doors such as Speedor Storm, which are fast-acting and, through its unique guide system, is tough enough to deliver exceptional wind resistance up to Class 5, over 90 mph.
